Mission Statement

The mission of FABIG is to disseminate knowledge and best practice and to develop guidance on the prevention and mitigation of fires and explosions and on the protection of facilities and personnel against fires and explosions.

Objectives

The objectives of the Fire and Blast Information Group are to:

• Collate and assimilate explosion and fire research results and information from a wide range of sources,
• Disseminate the information to members such that they are fully briefed on the state-of-the-art knowledge in this field,
• Develop specialist design guidance on explosion and fire engineering for the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry,
• Provide a forum for members for sharing of technical knowledge through quarterly technical meetings and newsletters,
• Identify technical issues for emerging technologies through talks from invited specialists at technical meetings and discussions with members.
