FABIG Publications
FABIG was established in 1992 following a major project, which resulted in the Guidance document ‘Design of Blast and Fire Engineering in Offshore Topside Structures’. This has since become the de facto standard for the offshore industry.
The group, in partnership with the oil and gas industry, has since carried out several research projects, produced technical notes and held regular technical meetings to disseminate information on the prevention and mitigation of fires and explosions and the protection of facilities and personnel against fires and explosions.
The highly significant body of knowledge gathered as a result of these activities is also applicable to onshore applications, most particularly in the petrochemical industry. Under the recent European Directive, Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH), plants are required to produce a safety case (as operators in the offshore industry already have to do). To assist in the dissemination of this information to onshore stakeholders, FABIG regularly holds technical meetings on fire and blast issues on onshore plants.
FABIG publications to date are listed under the sub-headings below. Click on any of the links for further information.
