Norwegian Offshore Regulations

The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has responsibility for the safety, emergency preparedness and the working environment in the petroleum activities in Norway. The main regulations pertaining to fire and explosion hazard management are illustrated in the figure below.

 

The Framework Regulations (2006) sets out the principles according to which health, safety and environment issues should be managed. Of particular relevance to fire and explosion hazard management are the Management Regulations which describes the barrier philosophy approach that underpins the Norwegian offshore regulatory regime.
