Lunchtime Webinar | Major accidents in the oil & gas industry, follow-up research and lessons learnt - Geoff Chamberlain, Waverton ConsultancyAdd to Calendar
|TITLE:||Major accidents in the oil & gas industry, follow-up research and lessons learnt|
|SPEAKER:||Geoff Chamberlain, Waverton Consultancy|
|DURATION:||1 h 15 min (1 h + Q&A)|
|TIME:||12.45 to 14.00 (BST)|
|ABSTRACT:||Investigation of accidents involving fire and explosion is essential for learning the root causes and for implementing improved safety measures. A thorough analysis often gives rise to a number of unknowns in the causal events requiring additional research. This webinar will re-visit major accidents, such as Piper Alpha and Buncefield, to illustrate how follow-up research enables understanding of why poor design, operation and maintenance can lead to fires and explosions which then escalate into more serious events. It will be shown that a necessary feature of a safety assessment requires a full systems analysis to identify, assess and avoid these tragic events.|
FABIG WEBINAR SERIES
We will be organising lunchtime webinars every two weeks whilst working life remains disrupted by measures to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. Such measures either prohibit or make inadvisable large meetings such as our Technical Meetings. We are still looking for presentations for our series of lunchtime Webinars and as such, please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com if you or one of your colleagues would like to give a presentation at one of the forthcoming FABIG Lunchtime Webinars.
Please note that you are required to log in to register for FABIG events. If you do not have an account on the FABIG Website, create one here.
This event is for FABIG members only.
