Lunchtime Webinar | Safety Barriers for Large-Scale Transport and Storage of CO2 for Permanent Geological Storage - Experience from The Northern Lights Project - Sandra Hennie Nilsen, EquinorAdd to Calendar
|TITLE:||Safety Barriers for Large-Scale Transport and Storage of CO2 for Permanent Geological Storage - Experience from The Northern Lights Project|
|SPEAKER:||Sandra Hennie Nilsen, Equinor|
|DURATION:||1 hour (45 min + Q&A)|
|TIME:||13.00 to 14.00 (BST)|
|ABSTRACT:||The Northern Lights JV DA is developing an open and flexible infrastructure for the transport of CO2 from industrial emitters by ship to a terminal in western Norway for intermediate storage, before being transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2,600 meters under the seabed. The transport and storage facilities will offer safe and permanent underground storage to industries from across Europe. The project is the transport and storage component of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project. Northern Lights will be the first ever cross-border, open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network. Phase one of the project will be completed mid-2024 with a design capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year. The facilities will be operated by the Northern Lights JV, a Joint Venture owned by Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies.|
Risks are mainly related to large releases of cold pressurized liquefied CO2. CO2 is neither flammable nor explosive. This webinar will focus on the following subjects:
FABIG WEBINAR SERIES
We will continue to organise lunchtime webinars every two weeks whilst working life remains disrupted by measures to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. Such measures either prohibit or make inadvisable large meetings such as our Technical Meetings. We are still looking for presentations for our series of lunchtime Webinars and as such, please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com if you or one of your colleagues would like to give a presentation at one of the forthcoming FABIG Lunchtime Webinars.
Please note that you are required to log in to register for FABIG events. If you do not have an account on the FABIG Website, create one here.
This event is for FABIG members only.
