TITLE:The “Design-Case Fire” Approach to Evaluating and Solving Fire Protection Needs
SPEAKER:David Black, BakerRisk
DURATION:1 hour (45 min + Q&A)
TIME:13.00 to 14.00 (BST)
ABSTRACT:This webinar will discuss fire protection as an engineering problem and pose methods and solutions that combine qualitative best practice knowledge with quantitative fire modeling to provide a full picture of the fire protection and emergency response needs. All engineering solutions start with a reasonable and accurate definition of the problem to be solved. Fire protection and emergency response resourcing at the site level is often approached as “do whatever you can with whatever you have available”. That approach misses the opportunity to treat fire as a definable problem for which the proper suite of solutions can be designed to achieve the ultimate goal: keep the fire manageable and get it suppressed and extinguished as quickly and efficiently as possible, with minimal risk to responders or exposed personnel.

FABIG WEBINAR SERIES

We will continue to organise lunchtime webinars every two weeks whilst working life remains disrupted by measures to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. Such measures either prohibit or make inadvisable large meetings such as our Technical Meetings. We are still looking for presentations for our series of lunchtime Webinars and as such, please do not hesitate to contact us at fabig@steel-sci.com if you or one of your colleagues would like to give a presentation at one of the forthcoming FABIG Lunchtime Webinars.
