LUNCHTIME WEBINAR - 2nd SEPTEMBER 2020
We are pleased to inform you that our next FABIG Lunchtime Webinar will cover 'Major Hazards Research since 1990: Fires' and will be given by Geoff Chamberlain, Waverton Consultancy on 2nd September 2020 from 13.00 BST.
For additional information and registration, please go to the Events section of the website.
This webinar will cover the hazards posed by jet and pool fires from ignited releases of oil, LPG and gas. The consequences of uncontrolled fires were tragically highlighted by the Piper Alpha disaster and the threats to workers and public posed by BLEVEs. Thus, considerable research has explored the size and intensity of such fires with the aim of designing effective counter measures to limit the extent of escalation that might occur in industrial plant. The talk will discuss experimental measurements of the flame properties, such as internal heat flux and flame temperatures of open and confined fires, and how these can be used to define fire protection systems.
FABIG WEBINAR SERIES
We will be organising lunchtime webinars every two weeks whilst working life remains disrupted by measures to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. Such measures either prohibit or make inadvisable large meetings such as our Technical Meetings.
We are still looking for presentations for our series of lunchtime Webinars and as such, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you or one of your colleagues would like to give a presentation at one of the forthcoming FABIG Lunchtime Webinars.
Take care and stay safe,
