There has long been a need to understand explosions. Research into the phenomena effecting and the consequences of explosions has evolved over the years, and this discussion meeting aims to pull a thread through the decades (perhaps centuries) of research. Retention of knowledge in the changing landscape of the energy transition will be key to avoiding mistakes of the past and enabling the technological advances of the future.

This 65th UKELG discussion meeting is dedicated to this topic - looking through the history of explosion research and using the nostalgia, lessons and insights to point to the future.
